kaolin fire presents :: art :: Oil on Canvas 3

This came from a small sketch of the tree (on lined paper, which is where the spacing came from for the horizontal lines, and the vertical ones just pulled up from that). I've had a long standing love-hate with (painting/drawing) trees, and I think this is the first time I've really captured treeness. I'm really, really happy with it, and the somewhat cartooniness, and the colors and contrasts. I spent several hours on this, getting the lines right, getting the contrasts right between the lines, getting the textures in the lines, and in the tree, (and and and). I hope you like it as much as me, my first tree. ;)
